Thought I would share some news of a new Japanese RolePlaying Game that is due out later this year in Japan.
The game in question is Ni no Kuni (二ノ国), the official site for this game is all in Japanese, but if you are interested you can find it here. The game is coming from video games developer Level 5, and anime studio Studio Ghibli. It will be arriving on the Nintendo DS in December, and it will be called Ni no Kuni: Shikkoku no Madōshi (二ノ国 漆黒の魔導士, literally ‘Second Land: The Jet-Black Mage’), and it will also arrive on the Playstation 3 sometime in 2011, and this release will be titled Ni no Kuni: Shiroki Seihai no Joō (二ノ国 白き聖灰の女王, literally ‘Second Land: The Queen of White Sacred Ash’).
In the game you play a 13 year old boy called Oliver, and he lives in Hotroit city. He is given a magic book by a fairy called Shizuku, and this book lets him travel to a parallel reality of his own, called Ninokuni. While here he will encounter alternative versions of people he know.
This is the footage for the Nintendo DS version.
And this is the footage for the Playstation 3 version.
Both of these videos are taken from IGNentertainment’s channel on YouTube. You can also view videos on the official Level 5 Ni No Kuni site.
Hopefully we will have a chance to see this game outside of Japan.
