Shadows of Esteren Kickstarter

Shadows of Esteren is a Medieval Horror RPG (TRPG), that seems to be very successful already without any help from me, and probably most will already know of this game, but for those that do not I thought I would enlighten you to this game project on Kickstarter.  Project page here.

The game is largely inspired by Celtic culture and mythology, creating a mix somewhere between Ravenloft, Game of Thrones, and Call of Cthulhu.  It has even won three ENnie Awards back in 2013 already!  The game was released back in 2010, and translated in to English back in 2012.  Now the game is mostly about the roleplaying, but the project is now becoming a cross-media project, including creating a point-and-click video game along the lines of the Broken Sword games.  There are also two original soundtracks that have been created, with a third in the works.  There is mention in the Kickstarter project of some interesting sources of inspiration that has been listed, such as anime, manga, and Hollywood films, but this I will leave for you to read from the project page.

As I write this article, the project has forty days left to the end of the project, and it is already standing at over $76,000 of a pledge goal of $20,000.  So now they are just hitting more stretch goals.  It looks to feature some great art work.  I will finish this article with hoping them all the best with their project, and leave with a snippet from their Kickstarter page.

Shadows of Esteren is a medieval role-playing game with a horrific and gothic influence. Drawing inspiration from Celtic myths, this universe has a discreetly fantastic side hidden under a bleak, realistic surface. This world is populated with humans who have to struggle through tough daily lives, while facing a supernatural threat lurking in the dark. With the focus of its adventures being investigation and survival, Shadows of Esteren favors an immersive mood and interaction among the Players.
